Isabelle felt the sun shining down on her bare shoulders, it seemed to instantly relax every tension inside of her body and brought a smile to her lips as she stood gazing out at the fields. No matter how confused or angry she was at the world, she was able to always find solace here. The sun stained rocks and grass spoke to her in a way that reminded her of the spiritual levels Jane was always going on about. Jane.. how easy everything came to her it seemed, smart as a whip and kind to those around her. She envied that, the ability to be open with those around her, but history had a way of making sure she was in some ways always closed off. Regardless of what she tried, hoped, or wanted for.
I really have to stop thinking like this, envying a child due to her ability of being uninhibited by bullshit, I’m more than a face, the beta to a pact. James saw this side of me, he knew I was better than this, but we all know how that turned out, another great call on my behalf… she thought to herself as she fell to the ground, her hands falling behind her to prop herself. James.. it always came back to him in a way. Regardless of their parting she couldn’t truly get him out of her mind, her body ached for him in ways that she wasn’t sure would ever be satisfied. He had known just what to say to her, oh how it had been easy to laugh and be herself around him… until it wasn’t. She wrinkled her nose softly at the thought, this is where she always stopped, the part of where had things gone wrong. Part of her knew it was for the best, but she couldn’t restrain herself from wishing, hoping to see that grinning face looking back at her when she woke up.
But she knew it wouldn’t be happening, not now at least. “We aren’t going anywhere Isabelle, we’re stuck here in this… hold and neither of us is pushing the bounds, we’ve grown too comfortable and that isn’t us, it isn’t you.” Her nails dug into the soil, her body tensing. It was never easy to hear that things were being done for her sake, for the best.. it felt like a cope out and she could only imagine what else was in store for her. How she would kill for the chance to know where her life was headed, to see if happiness and freedom would ever be apart of her life. But she knew better to hold on to pipe dreams. She stood up shaking her head softly as she wiped her soiled hands on the front of her favorite cut offs and made her way back towards the store, it was going to be a long day..
